June’s member spotlight is dedicated to Stacy Ray, who recently began serving his third Healthy Minds Alliance service term with Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio! Mental Health America has been a partner host site with HMA since 2020 and Stacy’s dedication and commitment have been an incredible asset to their organization.
During his time as an AmeriCorps member, Stacy has been trained as both an Adult and Youth MHFA instructor and a QPR Instructor. So far, he has trained an impressive 827 individuals in Mental Health First Aid! Earlier this year, Stacy presented at the National Mental Health First Aid Summit. He says there is nothing more exciting than sharing with others all of the important things he has learned, in the hope of making their path a little easier.
In addition to presenting at the MHFA Summit, Stacy’s proudest accomplishment has been the MHFA Resources app he developed for our participants. The app was an idea that was in the works for some time, and Stacy worked very hard to put it all together. With this app, people can easily find resources at their fingertips to support the individuals they engage with. He has also worked hard to increase Mental Health America’s social media presence and has nearly tripled its reach since his first service term.
Stacy has partnered with multiple organizations to achieve the goals of Mental Health America. Some of the noteworthy partners are colleges like Ohio State University, Oberlin College, Zane State College, and Ohio University. He has also coordinated trainings for Equitas Health, the 3rd largest LGBTQ mental health provider in the country along with the Ohio Department of Transportation.
While serving, Stacy also went back to graduate school to obtain a second Master’s degree. He will be finishing his degree at the same time that his third service term comes to an end. He has a passion for working in the non-profit sector, as well as a heart for education. Stacy says his future is wide open with career possibilities!
Stacy, we thank you for your dedication to service, your community, and to improving the field of mental health!
