Member Spotlight: L.A. Ngyen Serving with HopeLink Behavioral Health

Healthy Minds Alliance is proud to spotlight L.A. Nguyen, who has been serving with HopeLink Behavioral Health since December 2023. L.A. has been serving on the LGBTQIA+ Crisis Chat lines.

L.A. has taken advantage of opportunities that have come her way including policy and leadership workshops and conferences. L.A. shared, "These opportunities have been enlightening to see the expansive network of public health professionals within various sectors to ensure everyone has access to their basic healthcare rights, specifically mental health advocacy for women, children, and our military families."

During her service term, L.A. has crossed paths with individuals and organizations that learned the importance of adaptability to survive and thrive as an NGO and she has enjoyed learning how they have stayed relevant in an ever-changing landscape of bureaucracy and improved diversity and inclusivity to uphold the Hippocratic Oath.

She is particularly proud of her work helping lay the groundwork for future HMA AmeriCorps members who serve at HopeLink Behavioral Health. She is also proud of her service being able to return hope and basic rights to individuals in crisis who thought they had nothing left to live for because the world left them behind.

As part of a recent collaboration between ASTHO (Association of State and Territorial Health Officials) and Public Health AmeriCorps (PHA), L.A. took the initiative to be featured in PublicHealthCareers.org's digital flipbook. This flipbook featured Public Health AmeriCorps members and alumni, allowing them to share insights about their AmeriCorps service. Check out her feature below!

Thank you for your service, L.A.! We are proud to have you on our team and we cannot wait to see the amazing impact that you will continue to have in the mental health field and your future endeavors!
