Program: Healthy Minds Alliance 2024- 2025 Program Year
Position: Mental Health Gatekeeper Training Instructor
Reports to: Host Site Supervisor
Healthy Minds Alliance Mission: Healthy Minds Alliance is a community-based approach to the mental health crisis, utilizing evidenced-based gatekeeper programs to train community members on how to prevent, detect, and support people with a mental illness.
Purpose of Position: AmeriCorps Members will serve as instructors for host site-identified evidence-based/ informed programs, certifying members of the public.
Identified Programs: AmeriCorps Members are trained as instructors in select programs as designated by the specific host site. Programs may include Mental Health First Aid, QPR, SafeTALK, or a pre-approved evidence-based/ informed program by Health360.
Responsibilities include:

Participate in designated mental health evidence-based/ informed program instructor training (Date & Location TBD)

Disseminate mental health certification classes in communities
-
Outreach to local community for course participants, as well as recruit and engage community partners
-
Market program through press releases, social media and informational sessions
-
Outreach to local community to educate on 988
-
Market program through press releases, social media and informational sessions
-
Track each participant certified through pre and post evaluations
-
Submit evaluations as directed by Health360 and training entity
-
Advertise courses to the public as designated training site
-
Establish and foster relationships with community mental health agencies as partners and resources
-
Serve as a resource to course participants on an ongoing basis
-
Respect the privacy of course participants, colleagues and others, including the responsibility to protect personal information
-
Advocate for mental health awareness by promoting the principles of the course whenever possible
-
Grant writing to support mental health focused activities
-
Participate in AmeriCorps large service project
-
Participate in monthly calls held nationally by Health360
-
Assist host site with ongoing mental health community initiatives and regional events
Experience Preferred:
-
Personal and/ or professional knowledge of mental health topics
-
Strong teaching and/ or training skills and experience, especially with adult learners
-
Understanding of mental health issues and resources
-
Skills and experience facilitating diverse groups and creating/maintaining a positive, effective learning environment
-
Knowledge about mental health resources in her/his community and state
-
Positive attitudes towards individuals with mental illnesses
-
Enthusiasm for reducing the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and addiction disorders

Complete 1700 service hours – 40 hours per week, 5 holidays, 2.5 personal days

$7,395.00 Education Award upon completion of service commitment

$21,250 stipend for service – paid biweekly in 22 equal installments
Part-time AmeriCorps position:
-
Complete 900 service hours – 20 hours per week, 2 holidays, 1 personal day
-
$3,697.50 Education Award upon completion of service commitment
-
$10,625 stipend for service – paid biweekly in 22 equal installment
*Term of service is limited to a maximum of 12 months with approval by Health360.

Healthy Minds Alliance Mission: Healthy Minds Alliance is a community-based approach to the mental health crisis utilizing evidence-based/ informed programs in diverse communities across the nation.
Purpose of Position: AmeriCorps Members will provide expanded support to meet challenges faced by local crisis call centers across the country as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline shifts to the 3-digit number 988.
Identified Programs: AmeriCorps Members are trained in the mental health intervention identified by the local crisis call center.
Responsibilities include:

Participate in designated mental health evidence-based/ informed training
-
Provide support in answering calls/ texts/ chats that come into local crisis call centers
-
Build capacity to recruit other volunteers for the crisis call center
-
Assist with onboarding and training of other volunteers
-
Outreach to local community to educate on 988
-
Market program through press releases, social media and informational sessions
-
Provide performance measure data to Health360
-
Assist with evaluation, building evidence around services provided
-
Establish and foster relationships with community mental health agencies as partners and resources
-
Respect the privacy of colleagues and others, including the responsibility to protect personal information

Program: HEALTHForward 2023-2024 Program Year
Position: Health Profession Pipeline Coordinator
Reports to: Host Site Supervisor
HEALTHForward AmeriCorps Program Mission: To recruit and engage high school, college and health
professions students in service learning activities with the goal of increasing health knowledge in disadvantaged
communities.
Purpose of Position: The AmeriCorps member is responsible for the implementation of the Youth Health Service Corps, Collegiate Health Service Corps and Community Based Experiential Training Programs with students from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds in designated schools/ universities in their AHEC regional office.
Responsibilities include:
-
Engage with school/ university liaison to recruit high school, college and/ or health professions students toparticipate in the health profession pipeline programs
-
Conduct student volunteer trainings, including social determinants of health
-
Oversee the implementation of Service Learning Projects
-
Introduce various health/ public health careers
-
Coordinate health education sessions, trainings, field trips and speakers
-
Implement specific workshops and projects including Public Health Ambassadors Program
-
Support students as participants in National Service Days; MLK Day of Service and Global Youth Service Day
-
Manage and track student participation in the program and program outcomes
-
Conduct program assessments
-
Recruit and engage community partners, maintain contact with volunteer site coordinators, monitor service
-

Grant writing to support service learning activities

Participate in AmeriCorps large service project and monthly statewide trainings

Assist AHEC centers with ongoing community initiatives and regional events

AmeriCorps members receive a $20,000 stipend for their 44 weeks of service paid biweekly = 22 checks

$6,495 Education Award upon completion of service commitment (1700 service hours)
